The Team

Melanie Hamilton, CDMS, has 18 years experience as a vocational counselor and case manager, based in Littleton, NH. In June 2005, she and her 3 partners formed Solutions Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services, following 17 years of experience with another rehabilitation firm. She has experience conducting independent vocational evaluations (IVEs) at the request of defense attorneys, and has testified at Department of Labor hearings in both VT and NH. She is a member at large of the VT Vocational Rehabilitation Association, and a member of International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP). Melanie graduated from Franconia College with a degree in Social Work and US History, and has completed several graduate level courses in rehabilitation counseling through University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She is nationally certified as a disability managment specialist, and also holds certifications in NH and VT. Melanie is an avid traveler, who has gone to Thailand and Nicaragua on Habitat for Humanity builds, to Morocco with Earthwatch and has vacationed in Bali, Italy, Mexico, Central America and many islands in the Caribbean. In her spare time, she works in fused and stained glass. Her daughter is also a stained glass artist, and an instructor at Franklin Pierce College.

John May, MA, CRC, ABVE has worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor in Vermont since 1993. He completed a Master's degree program with a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in Rehabilitation Counseling at Assumption College in 1993, and has been a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor since 1993. He received a B.A. in English and American Studies from Williams College in 1984. He is a practicing vocational rehabilitation counselor and managing partner for Solutions Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services. Mr. May has also testified as a vocational expert in workers' compensation and liability cases in the state of Vermont. He has worked as a vocational counselor for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and as a counselor for adults with chemical dependence. Prior to the start-up of Solutions CRS, he worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and supervisor from 1993-99 and 2001-04. From 1999-2001, he worked as the director of vocational rehabilitation services for the northeast regional office of RSKCo Case Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of CNA Insurance. On behalf of the Vermont Department of Labor and Industry, he presented a workshop for employers, "Developing an Injury Management/Return-to-Work Program", in September, 2000. For the Vermont Department of Labor and Industry adjuster's conferences in 2004-05, he is scheduled to present on the topic "Chronic Pain and Permanent Total Disability". John resides in Shelburne, Vermont with his son Max, an avid Red Sox Fan.

Fran Plaisted, CRC, ABVE has worked as a vocational counselor and case manager in both New Hampshire and Vermont since 1989 and has been a certified disability management specialist since 1994. She is a founding partner of Solutions CRS. From 1989 until 2004, she was employed as a vocational counselor and supervisor. In addition to vocational rehabilitation and case management services, she is also retained by attorneys in Vermont and New Hampshire for expert testimony and by insurance carriers for Independent Vocational Evaluations. Fran is a member at large of the Vermont Vocational Rehabilitation Association, where she previously served as the secretary and co-chair. She is also a member of the National Rehabilitation Association and Independent Association of Rehabilitation Professionals. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1986 with a B.A. in Psychology and in 2005 from the University of Arkansas with a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Fran lives in Orford, NH with her husband Hank, and their 12 sled dogs. She is an internationally ranked skijorer and handler for her husband's competitive sled dog team. She also enjoys hiking, mountain biking, Tai Chi and cross country skiing.

Lana Tibbetts, our Administrative Assistant, has 25 years experience in Accounting/Finance and Office Administration, 12 of which are in the vocational rehabilitation industry. Lana attended college in San Diego and Aptos, CA, majoring in General Education. In addition, she successfully completed courses in Business Ethics, Business Law and Office Management. Lana is an active crafter and loves camping and swimming.
